Road Construction:

Date and Time: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Anticipate Disruptions: Road closures, delays, and detours are expected due to ongoing road construction projects.

Circle Street Bridge Reconstruction: MassDOT will continue its efforts in reconstructing and rehabilitating the Circle Street Bridge. This vital bridge remains closed for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice.


Combination Sanitary Sewer/Storm Drain Separation Project:

Date and Time: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic Impact: Be prepared for detours, lane shifts, road closures, and potential traffic delays as work continues on the combination sanitary sewer/storm drain separation project.

Sewer Infrastructure Work: The contractor will proceed with sewer infrastructure work at key intersections, including Main Street at River Street, Goddard Street at Chestnut Street, and Caldwell Place and Bond Street. Resident and business access will be maintained at all times. Note that the Main Street at River Street Detour is now operational. Adhere to traffic and detour signage, and the Fitchburg Police Department is on hand to address any questions related to traffic or detours.


Minor Traffic Impacts:

Date and Time: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Storm Cleanup: Our dedicated crews are actively working to restore city utilities and road infrastructure in areas affected by the storm. We appreciate your patience during this process. Remember, residents and business owners can report unsafe conditions on See-Click-Fix for prompt attention.

Pothole Repairs: Citywide pothole repairs are in progress to ensure smoother roads.

Sidewalk Repairs: Focus on repairing the Elm Street courthouse-side sidewalk.

Water Gate Box Repairs: Addressing water gate box repairs at different points across the city.

Gas Pipeline Replacement: Unitil’s gas pipeline replacement projects are ongoing in specific areas. Expect minor delays, detours, and temporary road closures.

Unitil Services: Unitil will be conducting service-related work on South Street and Pierce Ave, with minimal expected delays.

Tree Trimming: Various tree trimming efforts are planned, including Westminster Hill Road, Scott Road, Airport Road, and Route 31.

Streetlight Installation: Pine Ridge Technologies (PRT) will be completing the installation of streetlight bases and beginning to replace aluminum light poles on multiple streets.

Stormwater Infrastructure Inspections: Arcadis will conduct inspections in various areas, such as Milk Street, Bilotta Way, Burma Road, Liberty Circle, Sanborn Street, and Kaysha Drive. Potential minor delays, road closures, and detours may occur. Residents should note that inspections might involve the use of dye but shouldn’t be alarmed. Temporary access arrangements will be made if needed.


Hydrant Maintenance:

Throughout the week, hydrant maintenance will take place city-wide, including hydrant flushing on the High Water System (hydrants with red tops) on Wanoosnoc Road, Canton Street, and South Street areas.
